An intangible benefit of being an educator

An intangible benefit of being an educator is staying connected with past students and their families.

This afternoon we visited the home of one of my former grade 1 students. He is going into 8th grade and is now 3 inches taller than me! Most importantly, he has an amazing family that loves and supports him.

As the years progress, I am ever more thankful that I get to build strong and lasting relationships with families. As educators, we sow so much into the lives of children. It is a blessing and a lot of hard work. As we prepare to enter another school year, let us remember that the person we are for the next 180 school days will have a lasting impact on the +/- 25,000 days that lay ahead for each student under our care.

Here’s to an amazing 2015-2016 school year.

What if we thought more about the 25,000 days that lay ahead of a child versus the next 180 days we have with the child in the upcoming school year?
