100th post: What is our international school known for?

During a recent conversation with a respected school leader, we spoke about what our school, Concordia International School Shanghai, is known for in the larger Shanghai community (expat and local Chinese). The leader said, “Two things: High academic results and developing kind students.”

Our city (and China is general) is focused on high academic achievement, with many parents doing whatever it takes for their child to stand out among the crowd. Many schools in China have this down, producing top results. However, high academics often come at the expense of character development. The Concordia difference comes into play here. Students are achieving in the upper percentiles while also being kind human beings and treating others respectfully.

"Kind achievers.” Isn’t that something we could rally around?

With something to think about,
